New Consular Compound Access Control (CCAC) Building

BPA is the Architect of Record for this project and was responsible for all architectural and physical security design aspects of the work. The existing Chancery building, originally designed by I.M. Pei, is currently being considered for eligibility within the U.S. Department of State’s list of historically significant buildings. Given that the new CCAC building was to be adjacent to the existing Chancery, the design of the new CCAC building incorporated architectural features that were complementary to the Chancery building. In doing so, the design intent was to preserve the architectural significance of the Chancery building while continuing to meet all current OBO, Diplomatic Security, and international design standards.
